Spring (Road to Paradise)
This tapestry of big foofy pink, peach and rust knots with quiet moments of green uses a load of different types of wool (roving, yarn chunky and thin), cotton (yarn, string, rope) and silk. I was initially inspired by an abstract oil painting I've had for over twenty years, but the yarns took a different direction and I followed them along.
I'd refer to the painting but the colors, textures and layers became the guide. The Talking Heads song became a theme came to mind at one point (and it happened to be a perfect fit for "life" at that moment, too):
"We're on a road to nowhere,
Come on inside.
Takin' that ride to nowhere,
We'll take that ride.
I'm feelin' okay this mornin'
And you know
We're on a road to paradise,
Here we go, here we go..."
