Memory Tangle
Memory Tangle is a hand-wrapped randomly-woven knot. This is not one that you'll find in Clifford Ashley's Book of Knots. It's inspired by the basket-weaving technique known as 'random weave,' which is not completely random. There is some thought involved in making sure the form is sturdy and holds its shape, an over-under, if you will.
After tying so many flat mat knots, the "how" has finally started to click. There is magic in how to snug them up so they stay firm rather than floppy. There are ways to twist them upon themselves, then weave right through those twists. All sorts of little tricks to making beautiful and interesting knots. So I decided to go it alone and create my own - this blend of random weave and knot-making.
Memory Tangle is cotton rope wrapped with different types and colors of wool yarns. The beachy colors - aquas, sandy taupes, sky blues - represent the blur of sensory memories from summers past.
Memory Tangle is framed in a shadow box backed with linen, and comes ready to hang or can sit on a shelf.
