Box o' Knots
When the pandemic began, so began my interest in tying knots. What started with a mild interest in the basics quickly turned into a fairly keen pursuit. One book of knots has now become a library, the highlight being the most coveted Clifford Ashley's Book of Knots, an encyclopedic compendium of thousands of knots organized into categories by use.
I've been working my way through it, but skipping around here and there. This set of knots is from the "bends," which is when one rope is tied onto another (put very simply). There are many, many, many ways this can be done depending on the use case. The first four knots are just a few of the more decorative examples. The fifth knot, for good measure, is a stopper knot.
You may have seen display cases of knots on ferry boats or in old timey maritime museums. I love the idea of displaying the knots, with labels and their reference numbers from the ABOK, as if they are their own visual reference library.
Shadow Box is 11" x 14". Can be filled with an assortment of select knots, by special order.
