Color Field Study II
This series of four small hand-woven landscapes - or happy blobs - began as small watercolor studies.
I started working with watercolors during the summer of '22 as a way to think differently. I had ideas about what I thought I wanted to paint and I ended up doing something else entirely. Along the way, it provided a way to look at color and shape before fully committing to a woven piece.
Of course, color mixing with yarns is a completely different story from color mixing with paint, but it's a wonderful challenge to seek out the colors and textures that, together, will comprise the most tactile blobs.
Hand-woven tapestry, mounted on a museum-quality mat in a 16" x 20" natural wood frame.
This piece is lovely as a pair with Color Field Study I.
