What's better than a single tassel? Lots of tassels!
If you meditate or have a practice that involves some form of repetition, perhaps you'll understand when I explain what happened when I started making tassels. The process of wrapping the cotton cord, followed by wrapping the colors of cotton thread, became so repetitive that I would fall into a kind of flow state. A tassel-making zone, if you will. I planned to make a few tassels and ended up making... a lot of tassels.
This piece has a selection of my favorite color combinations, organized in rows and columns, representing that repetitive, meditative flow. Each tassel, a mantra. I love looking at the color relationships and the conversations they have across the weaving.
Materials: Wool weaving with cotton tassels/cotton thread; brass tube
