Hardware store jute twine is one of the least pliable materials I've worked with so far - next to linen. So why not pair them together?! I can't help it. They may be unforgiving but they're wonderfully natural, so much character. Here, I've matched them up with a favorite soft and squishy felted wool.
This continues my interest in working with twining, one of the earliest forms of weaving and basket-making. The technique creates structure and sturdiness. The piece plays with the balance between organized form and loose texture in the fringe.
