Hi! I’m Meg Morley.
I work with woven textiles, knots, and basketry techniques to create artworks that explore my interest in the natural world — particularly the fuzzy coats of animals, the soft shapes of clouds, the misunderstanding around weeds. And I simply enjoy the the moments of making: hands-on, discovering, problem-solving, creating, playing.
I love working with natural materials that feel good in the hand, have durability and texture, and inspire. The materials themselves are central to my practice, whether wool, cotton, linen or silk — or jute, plant stems, paper bags.
Fiber art was not on my career trajectory. I’ve been a project manager and an executive producer. As COVID interrupted my professional career in live events, I started tying knots and learning to weave. This evolved into a more concerted practice through self-taught work and selected workshops.
My work has been selected for juried art exhibits and markets. I’ll continue to make select pieces available for sale here and occasionally take on custom orders, commissions and collaborations.
