Hi! I’m Meg Morley.

I design and create tactile fiber art pieces, including hand-woven wall hangings, decorative knots, and occasional crochet or knit sculpture. My work generally reflects my wonder and interpretation of the natural world -- the layers of texture in animals' furry coats, the softness of clouds, the weight of decaying weeds, the lightness and joy in blooming flowers. Using fiber art to explore these textures allows for play between a more literal interpretation and abstraction.

Background
As a theatre production and design major, I learned how to be creative within a collaborative framework. For much of my professional career (20+ years so far), I've worked as an experiential producer, digital strategist, and/or in some sort of creative and collaborative environment (marketing, event planning, design). My professional work has been interesting, challenging, and rewarding.

Like so many others, I experienced a life transition as part of Covid.
I lost my job. It was a good job but I'd been burnt out, so it felt a little like an opportunity or blessing in disguise. Suddenly, I had plenty of time that I'd never had before. Instead of creating something with or for someone else, I could do or make anything.

Initially inspired by Windy Chien's Year of Knots, I started tying knots. It provided a framework that my mind and body could process during the earlier days of the pandemic, and proved to be a wonderful meditative practice. I graduated to Clifford Ashley's Book of Knots, a massive encyclopedia of thousands of knots. I also pulled two dusty Crafter's Box loom kits out of the closet and finally learned to weave on frame looms. Soon, the corner of an otherwise unused room began filling with rope, yarn, looms and tools - my makeshift studio was taking shape.

While the focus of my current work is weaving and knotting, I'm broadly interested in fiber arts as a generalist. I'm interested in continuous study to increase my knowledge of techniques and processes to further enhance my work.

Currently, I enjoy weaving, knot-tying, crochet, twining, dyeing, a little passementerie in the form of tassel-making, and knitting.
It's exciting to find opportunities to integrate the processes and I continue to look for ways to pursue that.

I've been honored to have several of my pieces selected for juried art shows and have had the opportunity to participate in some wonderful local hand-made and artisan markets. My work is available for purchase via this website, and shipping is included in all pricing shown. (See
shipping info for more details.)

One of the things I love most is working with clients on custom orders and commissions, and I've enjoyed collaborating with other artists. I'm always happy to provide samples and renderings and to work with you on budgets, dimensions, materials, etc. to meet your needs and expectations.

Thank you so much for visiting. I would love to hear from you.
